Description
• The special education teacher is assigned to work with students that have been identified with various disabilities.
• The teacher is responsible in managing his/her class to ensure proper behavior and safety of the students.
• The teacher will develop a lesson plan and provide specialized instructions with appropriate accommodations and modifications in a resource, inclusion, alternative, and self-contained classrooms.
• The teacher will work toward the development and implementation of students’ IEP in accordance with IDEA regulations.
• The teacher will facilitate the development of IEP using the school’s NASIS Program following the guidelines and procedures according to IDEA.
• The special education teacher will design IEPs with the team to address the needs of the students.
• The teacher is responsible to attend to all IEP meetings of students under his/her caseload.
• Communicate with parents, students, and collaborate with the general education teachers and other service providers to ensure full implementation of IEP in the general education classroom.
• The teacher will comply with BIE special education services documentation policy and school policy on keeping attendance and other necessary documents.
• The teacher will submit all the required documentation for IDEA compliance and BIE audit compliance.
• The teacher will attend Professional Development and other trainings required by the school.
• The teacher is responsible in maintaining and updating the required clearances (finger prints, RAP sheets etc.) and Arizona Department of Education certification according to NCLB regulations for Highly Qualified Teachers.
• The teacher will abide by the Employee Handbook approved by the Cibecue Community School Board Inc.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements
State of Arizona Certification in Education/Special Education with endorsement in gifted and talented education, knowledgeable with referral process, development and implementation of student education plan, preferably with experience in working with talented and gifted students. Candidate must have federal and state fingerprint clearances, fingerprint card and RAP sheet.

Daily duties require teachers to be comfortable working with computers, peripheral devices, and have proficient internet navigation skills for online student information systems and communication across the school network
